Miley Cyrus and her desperate attempt to prove that she is not a little girl anymore.

Before you form your own conclusions, let me tell you that I’m not a fan of judgement. In fact, I’m quite foreign to the practice.

However, VMA2013..

Not judging, just forming an opinion.

A very stubborn opinion.

Miley Cyrus isn’t a child anymore. I know that. You, as someone who’s patiently reading this painfully shallow post knows that, and ofcourse, Miley Cyrus knows that. Needless to say, she’s at a liberty to showcase her talent in any way she finds fit. However, when she grinds a teddy bear or a married man, you really start to think of the consequences it might have on your generation or the next.

Kids watch the MTV VMAs, parents with kids watch the MTV VMAs. As a teenager, I know how awkward it is to have your parent sitting on the couch next to you when a steamy scene on tv pops up without any warning.

Anyways, that’s not the point. The point is Miley’s behaviour wasn’t only inappropriate for the general audience, it was also terribly confusing. Why would a 20 year old, with a seemingly good worth of talent touch herself with a foam finger or violate Robin Thicke’s personal space? I’ve seen the pictures, I’ve seen the videos. Yes, I did go over them again and again because 1) I was amused/bemused. (Does not make sense but I hope you get the point) and 2) I was trying to determine if it was glitch or a mis-step on her part. I know it sounds insane, but I did think that was a possibility. That’s how scandalised I was on seeing that unnecessary piece of performance.

As a celebrity who the media dotes on, as a person who inspires hundreds around the world, Miley Cyrus has a responsibility. And as someone who is not yet 21, she does have a few boundaries when it comes to what she can sing/talk/ramble/constantly brag about. As a genuine (I like to think so) human being, I am not telling anybody what to do. However, I’m just putting forth my concern about this performance and I’m more than sure that I speak for quite a few.
